About us
Ahmed and Lena met in 2011. Ahmed was on a mission to sail around the world and Lena travelled the world after quitting her job, seeking for answers to all unanswered questions in her life.
In the beautiful South Pacific island of Tonga, destiny brought them together. Lena invited Ahmed to join a trip going swimming with humpback wales. Ahmed overheard a conversation Lena had with the captain of the boat, telling her that she's not quite ready to leave Tonga, a place she had fallen deeply in Love with. It took all of Ahmed's courage but eventually he asked Lena, if she would like to sail with him for a while. Of course she did ! Well, that little while developed into a bond of life. Lena never left the boat again and together they discovered some of the beautiful islands in the South pacific.

About 2 years later, on a trip from Fiji to New Zealand, they faced a big storm at sea. After that horrendous passage with some very scary moments -to say the least - they decided to take a little break from the boating life and experience some land based adventures instead. Lena's big Love for Africa brought them soon later on a memorable trip through different parts of Africa. During an adventurous Safari through Botswana, a little soul, later named Tayo, entered the realm of Lena's womb.

Ahmed keeps telling the story that Lena had promised, Tayo will be a sailing baby, but little did she know back then how motherhood changes everything in life. One of those things is a fierce need of protection and with that storm in the back of her mind, sailing was not in the stars yet. They lived in L.A. and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. When Tayo was almost 2 years old, his little sister Marli joined the family.

It has taken them 6 years to feel ready to return to New Zealand and continue the boating adventure on S/V OM together with their two new little crew members.
This is where we are at and this is where this website came into existing.

We are beyond excited to continue our adventures on the ocean's of the world as a family and are passionate to share them with you and inspire you to come along with us.
